Subject:RE: common interview question From:Maggie Pierce Secara <maggiros -at- yahoo -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 23 Oct 2002 08:56:58 -0700 (PDT)
I think you can answer the question without it being a
deep, soul-searching issue. Sometime during last
year's perpetual job search, I decided that there is
no reason to take this as a personal question.
When they ask me what my strengths are, I talk about
my skills (I write very very well), so why should my
weakness be a character flaw? So, I'd say "I really
could use more work on <some technology I wish I knew
more about>" and that successfully diverted the
conversation back into professional terms.
It may not be what they think they were asking, but
it's an honest and thoughtful answer.
