Actually, for that one I do. Although, as it's 20-odd
years ago now, it's probably not a critical
connection. :)

On the same note, what can you do about the small
companies that have vanished, or divisions that have
shut down or left town? Having the right name won't
make it possible to contact them. Does that mean I
made them up? If the hiring company wants to think
so, I guess I would rather not work for them anyway.

Background checks aren't free. How many companies are
really doing them before they narrow down their list?
