Marilynne brings up a good point. I believe that re-typing the resumes is a
somewhat standard practice amongst agencies. Not only does it allow them to
present an image of consistency, it also allows them to strip off any
identifying information about the candidate to avoid customers trying to
contact them directly.

That said, however, never be afraid to stand up for yourself!

After I saw what the agency was trying to pass off as my resume, I called and
told them my opinion: 1) though consistent, it was a crappy format, and 2)
there were ERRORS in their retyping which made ME look like an idiot.

(For example, I was asked in an interview, "How would you rate your editing
skills." I told them, "Very well." They looked back at me and asked if I was
aware that there were three typing mistakes and a homonym used incorrectly. I
just about died on the spot.)

I asked them to send out my resume in my format in the future. I formatted it
in such a way that they could fax it with their identifying information (and my
personal address stripped off).

It was a compromise they were willing to make.

Just ask. I once was able to see resumes coming in from my agency - after they
placed me at the company. They were faxed using a cheap fax and full of
errors. I had taken so much time to do my resume in a pleasing and
professional manner. They re-typed it so the agency could present itself in a
consistent manner.

I asked my recruiter if she had ever looked at one from the client's point of
view. She admitted they had a "girl" come in and type them up.
