If what the software companies wanted was flex hours, they could have
asked the legislature for an exemption only for the 8-hour day. What
they got was the right to make developers work 60- or 80-hour weeks
for a flat salary, so I figure that was what they wanted.

I've never heard a tech writer complain about not being exempt.
