Another list member wrote offline to thank me for recommending the use of a
freeware text editor as a more capable Notepad replacement. As we all know,
Microsoft in its "infinite wisdom" often neglects to improve sub-standard
utilities in Windows (or nonfunctional "features" in Office, for that
matter).

There are many free resources that can make your life easier. If you work in
Windows, for instance, I suggest you check out the "46 Best Free Utilities"
downloadable article from http://www.techsupportalert.com. Some of these are
truly gems. http://www.techsupportalert.com/best_46_free_utilities.htm

If you subscribe to that site's free newsletter, there is also another list
of 57 more.

I suggest you will probably find perusing these lists to be an excellent way
to invest your time.
