Hi Anthony,

I'm sorry to hear that things went so poorly. Here's what I recommend to
anyone in your situation:

1. Consult an employment attorney. Most law offices offer a free
consultation on your case. Call around until you find one who does.

2. Go to the unemployment/employment insurance office and talk to an
officer there about filing a claim.

3. Check your government web sites for an applicable agencies. Here in
Ontario, the Ministry of Labour is charged with enforcing the Employment
Standards Act. They have a dispute resolution process in place.
(http://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/es/claim/index.html) Hopefully your
local government has something similar.

4. Don't give up! Malicious companies often count on their Goliath vs.
David advantage to scare employees into compliance. A clear, reasoned
response backed up with the appropriate documentation and the proper
government claims/complaints often results in a more appropriate
settlement than was initially offered.
