Hi, folks.

Keyboard functionality there is present really. And for the new generation
of advanced users it might be even simpler to find.

When you first press Alt, you see the ribbon section ( Main, Insert, Layout...
Table,... - I might misrepresent this, 'coz my copy is in Russian) shortcuts
(sorry, no use quoting the letters unless you have Russian version too ;-) )
in a very clear and prominent way and if the ribbon is not collapsed (which
is a nice opportunity to save workspace) to just the section headers or as
soon as you have selected the section you want (with the shortcut key after
Alt), you'll also see the shortcuts for the next possible step of the
Alt sequence
(Columns or Line spacing double, for example).

If you press a key not present in the ribbon section header (at least) word
will prominently encourage you to continue typing through a Word 2003
Alt-sequence, also showing you what you already have typed after Alt. I
think that's great to have.

It's really more obvious than the underlined letters for a newbie unlike
most of us.

So the ribbon concept appears eye-centric and learner-centric rather than
mouse-centric.

Cheers,
Alexey

Hi Barry,

Do you have any feedback on keyboard functionality? The "ribbon" concept
was initially presented as a mouse-oriented ("musocentric") tool, and
some of us were trained in the Musophobic school of tech writing.

Thanks,

Dan
