I think it does require a DTD or scheme, this is why I haven't gotten it
working yet.

Here's a screen shot you can look at that I've posted on Flickr (man I
love the new Flickr plug-in with SnagIT!)

So, although I can't vouch for the power of the feature, it does exist
in Word 2007.

It's not really XML if it doesn't come with and use a DTD. Does Word
2007 actually make you adhere to a DTD, and can it validate a document
against a DTD? If so, then it's a useful XML implementation.
If Word 2007 only saves a document using HTML tags, it's not really XML
other than in the loosest possible sense.
