Several years ago, I made the move from a small company to a large
corporation and then back again. I left the small company to go with the
large corporation because the job sounded more interesting and came with a
$15,000 pay increase. Several months later I regretted leaving the small
company because I found the environment in the large corporation
uninspiring. I was indeed quite fortunate to be able to return to my old job
at the small company and have my new salary matched to boot. However, the
small company was soon swallowed up by a large company and everything
changed. What I regret about past decisions tends to change depending on my
current goals, and I try not to obsess about them too much.

"Droll thing life is-that mysterious arrangement of merciless logic for a
futile purpose. The most you can hope from it is some knowledge of
yourself-that comes too late-a crop of unextinguishable regrets." (from
Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness)
