I thought it was rather honest as well. I can't help but think there
are a decent number of tech writers who got their start in this kind
of role as well. it's definitely not an attractive position for anyone
with substantial experience in tech writing, but from what I read it
looks like an honest ad for a ech admin who will also be doing some
minor tech writing work as well. And, given the economy, the company
might also be looking for a way to get a little more out of their
admin position. I can't vouch for the size of the organization, but if
it's small to mid-size, a flat justification for an admin might not be
an economical approach to the position. In that case, if it is the
case, asking for additional skills to assist with document production
so the engineers aren't doing the job of both development/testing and
tech writing is justified.
