I just want to add that I think Gene-Kim's comment is probably the best
of both worlds and worth a try. Unfortunately it's kind of hard when
you're still at your current job and interviewing before the guantlet
falls.
I still remember a job interview when I was in grad. school. I was
writing my first novel and when asked why I had an employment gap on my
resume I said I was writing a novel. The interviewer replied, "Must be
nice to have unlimited resources to write a novel." I'll never make that
mistake again.
An aside to someone's comment about Texas, there is actually a list serv
for people in Austin whose jobs are being offshore outsourced run by a
techie whose placement firm has been hard hit by the offshoring issue.

I wouldn't go into that kind of detail. "My position was
eliminated due to reasons related to the business" is as
far as I'd go. Better to keep a discussion focused on
my ability to do the job I'm interviewing for than let it
drift off to why I no longer have my last one.
