Maybe; depends on what you need a "mechanic" for. If I need something
fixed on my car, and you've fixed that thing on the cars of 40 of my
friends, and you're cheaper than a certified mechanic, then sure, I
might hire you to do it.

Also depends. The laws of physics don't change with your degree status.
Unless prevented by some state law, I might consider having you perform
some engineering task. Of course, that would probably only happen if
you had some additional learning (self-directed or not) or experience
beyond the workshop, but surely you weren't just constructing a straw
man ...

"Spam" is unsolicited email. A post to an email discussion list is a
*request* for email. So responses are not "spam".
