Difference between process and task-based?

I've only been reading these postings for about a month so I'm super new,
but I get the impression the majority of those who subscribe to the list
are doing some type of software documentation. I do documentation for
process instrumentation and I think this type of manual combines the
process and task-based aspects that Geoff was talking about in its simplest
form. In my case, software is just 1/7 of the project, albeit often (for
me) the most frustrating!

Chapter 1 - Overview of the Product and Theory of Operation (process)
Chapter 2 - Specifications (process)
Chapter 3 - Installation and Initial Operation (task)
Chapter 4 - Controller (Software) (task)
Chapter 5 - Calibration (process and task)
Chapter 6 - Troubleshooting and Maintenance (process and task)
Chapter 7 - Parts Replacement (task)
