RE: "install" as a noun?

English is great, isn't it?

Certainly, people are using "install" as a noun. However, I don't think
these folks have stopped to think whether "installation" might be a better
choice. I'm all for a living language but, for now, see no advantage
whatsoever with using "install" as a noun in my writing (or my speech, for
that matter). "Install" adds nothing of value and "installation" does *not*
fail to communicate the necessary idea.

That being said, whatever you choose, I recommend you be consistent about
it.
