I participated in several courses through Ziff-Davis University (Intro to
SQL, Intro to Object Technology; JavaScript Essentials) in 1998-1999. They
charged $7.50 a month for as many courses as you wanted to take. The ones I
signed up for were instructor led, meaning you had reading assignments,
lecture notes, exercises (optional), and a student chat lounge where you
could discuss homework/reading/exercises with students in the same class
(from all over the world). You could also chat with the instructor on
issues. At the completion of the course, you received a certificate (no
tests or anything), but you really get out of the classes what you're
willing to put into them. Really enjoyed the SQL and Intro to Object
Technology courses.
