I do not believe there is an option that one specifically selects or
deselects
in order to make Word TOC entries hyperlinks; Word assumes you want that
kind of
navigation. If changing the heading style causes problems, I suggest
returning
to the options for the TOC and making sure that all of the desired styles
are
selected for inclusion in the TOC.
There is an option to create a hyperlink when you insert a cross-reference.
