Subject:Writing for CE/ISO Compliance From:David Manney <dmanney -at- BABSON-BROS -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 22 Jan 1998 14:49:46 -0600
Greetings All!
Our department is currently debating which guidelines to follow for our
safety notices in our installation manuals. The conundrum is; do we write
for Europe's CE compliance, or do we write for ISO compliance. Of course
there's ANSI and others, but we've narrowed our discussion between these
two.
During the time in which the manuals are produced, usually it is not known
whether or not our products will be sold outside of the USA. On that rare
occasion that we know the product is exclusive to a given continent, we try
to follow the appropriate guidelines. So, my question is this; when your
product is sold worldwide, what is the preferred/recommended guideline to
follow? IOW in that 1 in 50 chance that ISO & CE contradict each other.
