ADMIN QUESTION: Etiquette and autoreplies.

You may have noticed, I'm not always the best at staying on-topic... lord
knows I've had my wrists slapped a few times by Eric. But at least I'm
participating *myself* and generally attempting to add something that in
onw way or another is constructive.

To me, the ultimate rudeness on any listserv is people, usually receiving
the list through an email setup at their place of business, who leave an
auto-response informing people that they're "out of the office" or
something similar. I just made three posts to the list, and in short
order received three messages from a person's mailer informing me that
she's away until January 5th!

IMHO, these types of offenders SHOULD be immediately disconnected from
the list, at least until such time as they return from vacation and take
the time to apologize for being such an irritant. Warnings would be
irrelevant, as those wouldn't be received until said offender returned
anyway.

Personally, I'm ready to just set a bounce of my own to send this
person's auto-replies back to her. Of course, those would then get
bounced back to me... and subsequently bounced to her again and smartly
deleted from my system. I wonder how long it would take for her inbox to
explode?

Anyway... happy new year to everyone else!

Your friend and mine,
Matt
