Joe, you can attach notes to documents in .PDF format (they even look like
little sticky notes), but there is a catch. To create a note, you must use
Acrobat Exchange. You can read notes that already exist in a .PDF doc
using Acrobat Reader, but if I'm not mistaken you can't edit them in
Reader, nor can you add them in Reader.
If you do have Exchange, you can summarize the notes in a separate .PDF
document as well. I find the 'notes' feature to be very convenient when
editing in our department, since we all use Exchange. However, other
employees in the company do not have Exchange so we must revert to
old-fashioned paper markups for them.
