Original query and summary of responses:

Do LEDs light, illuminate, turn on, or what?
light - 9; illuminate - 3; is on - 2; activate - 1
We've chosen 'light'
Do you click a button or click on a button?
click - 12; click on - 4; click ʽSaveʼ - 2; select - 1
We've chosen click.
When you have an acronym that's derived from a word or phrase but not from just initial letters, do you capitalize the acronym letters in the defining phrase, or leave it as normal text?
PHRED (PHrases foR the EruDite) - 9
PHRED (phrases for the erudite) - 3
I got over-ruled on this one - we're going with the second format.

My thanks to all of you who responded. Especially to Jim Purcell, who noted that "These are theological questions, and I predict you will get lots of definitive and mutually contradictory answers. Matters of style are not settled by rules--they are settled by conventions that are determined either by their appropriateness in a particular setting or by the tastes of the person in charge of the style guide."

Quite right. But as we all know, it doesn't hurt to have good company when you man the barricades! The people on this List are definitely Good Company.

Regards,
Miki
