Got a report-from-COMDEX at our user's group meeting last night:
apparently Corel did show the latest demo (pre-alpha?) running the
*same code* off the *same server* on Unix, Mac and NT workstations!

It certainly has Redmond worried, especially since they have a
competing "OS": ActiveX. There's significant talk about Microsoft
coming out with sort of Windows-specific Java (how they can expect to
get away with it when Sun controls Java is beyond me, unless they
intend to buy out Sun or something stupid like that) that would improve
performance at the expense of compatility.

Yeah, they have a sign-up sheet for the beta team there. Only
irritating thing is, one of their requirements is a web browser that
supports Java... well excuse me, but I have an OS with built-in Java
support.
