I realize that many of you are probably inescabably entrenched in the
"Win-tel" phenonmenon, but if you check all the current PC trade rags,
you'll see that the PowerPC RISC-based processor from Apple Computer, Inc.
is flying by the competition. If I were you and in need of new equipment, I
would try to convince my purchasing department that the PowerPC is the way
of the future and it is the best system available.

If I could have my dream technical writing/graphics system it would be:

Power Macintosh 9500/132
PowerPC 604 processor (upgradable via processor upgrade card slot)
256 MB of RAM (expandable to 1 GB)
4 MB VRAM
2 TB Hard Drive
Quad Speed CD-ROM drive
1 GB Zip Removable Media drive
Apple Multiple Scan 20 Display

and, of course, the software would have to be FrameMaker 5.0 (for Mac)
