Since we're sharing our tax stories here, I must report that my
taxes went up with Clinton much more than they had in the previous
decade. Social Security taxes went up during the Reagan Administration,
but this was more than offset by increasing income and low inflation,
at least in my case.

This year the IRS plans to increase its take (or at least to increase
public anger) by conducting additional random audits. This means that,
even though they have no reason to suspect you of tax evasion, they
can force you to produce your records for the previous year, or the last
seven years, just so they can check. With the IRS, youa re guilty until
proven innocent.

Is it any wonder that most Americans are in favor of a simple flat tax?

Here's a question for you contractors out there: Have you looked into
the possible effects of a flat tax on your incomes?
