Talking about words that we'd like to see dropped from the language, my
vote is for the word "get" and it's entire family, especially as in "I
haven't gotten a single piece of E-Mail all day", or "What's gotten into
him lately." This is more a problem of the spoken language, but I thought
I would raise everyone's consciousness a little. The language, (especially
as it is used here in the U.S.) is riddled with the word; think about all
the combinations we use each day when there are almost always perfectly
reasonable words that could be used instead.
Time to get off the net, get in my car, and get home in time to get dinner
ready for the family!
