Does anyone out there write MIL-specs? I used to write them back in
the early '80s. The standard we followed to write MIL-specs (MIL-STD-
69-something, I think) specified that we use passive voice. I never
questioned it; that's just the way those things were supposed to
sound. It was kind of hard getting out of the habit of always using
passive voice after that. So I wonder if MIL-specs and MIL-STDs are
still written in passive voice and why.
