Greg,

I save them and keep them in magazine boxes in my office. For one thing,
keeping them helps convince management that I really am getting something from
STC. For another, I left behind all my other magazines (Publish, Desktop, EP&P
before it became defunct) when I left my last place of employ and really
regretted it. I can't count the times I've wanted to go back to something --
since I've kept the journal, I can, for STC stuff.

I've used it to end arguments about perceived TW added value, salary ranges,
proper syntax and grammar, SME interviewing techniques, etc. I've used it to
start new processes and procedures (two VERY different beasts in my current
co.). I've used it to justify why I did Thing A in a manual. I've used it to
get ideas for new manual formats or content. I've used even the back issues as
something to read while my computer compiles help files, or exports from my help
authoring tool to IPF and RTF files (which takes forf***ingever, thank you
Universal Help).

I could go on, but I think you get the point. Even if you decide not to keep
them, though, you may want to check into donating them (to a local community
college, or tech writing program) rather than recycling.

Just my two bits!
