My 0.02 worth (as if I hadn't had enough of them today) is that I think the
French have been relatively succesful at maintaining their culture (at
least they seemed to when I lived there). However, they are a much more
homogeneous society than we are, and even where they like to "imitate"
or incorporate American things into their environment, they are very
aware that they are French first and always, and their cultural values
still remain, no matter what we'd like to think.
