Quality metrics and Ode to Spellcheckers

Subject: Quality metrics and Ode to Spellcheckers

Item of Interest:

I ran the Ode through the Flesch model -- it received an extremely high score
on readability: 112.5, in fact. This ode says as much about the measurability
of quality in writing as it does about spellcheckers. Until someone finds a
way to measure meaning, I fear that statistics will only be useful as
confirmations of human judgement. Stick with the customer for your metrics!
