>From a very quick test, I would say that the problem is that it is not a
spelling rule that is being invoked but a grammar rule. In this case, a
spacing rule. You can't add words to the grammar rules checker. You can turn
off individual rules in the settings or turn of grammar checking altogether,
but this might suppress warnings that you want to see.

Subject: Word 2016 Dictionary Problem?
Unfortunately, I am not much of a Word expert and my wife has a problem I
know nothing about.
She's a proofreader and wants to add some 2-character combinations to the
dictionary (": and [:P and ]. they are used as some sort of tagging method).
Adding them to her dictionary doesn't stop spellcheck from hitting them, and
when it does it doesn't have an "ignore" or "add" option. All of which leads
me to believe that the dictionary won't allow such characters to considered
"words".
Am I guessing right?
