While we're on the subject of freelancing, do all of you independent contractors have your own EINs or do you just use your social security number?

The fewer people who know my SSN, the better! No, I'm not naïve enough to think that the SSN really is secret--I know it's really easy to find this info--but why make it any easier than it has to be? I'm sure there must be some fraud that could be perpetuated with an EIN, but it seems much less likely than identify theft performed via our SSN.
