In fact, it was not uncommon for organizations using Arbortext as their structured authoring tool to use FrameMaker as the engine for producing PDF or hard copy deliverables. At a former employer, we were investigating Arbortext and the company rep actually recommended such a system as an alternative to their own formatting engine.
