As you may know DITA Exchange is a SharePoint application that extends the standard SharePoint DMS features to become a full XML Content Component Management System based on the open DITA XML standard.
DITA Exchange stands on three pillars:
- DITA XML (probably the fastest growing open XML standard for structured publications (according to Garner))
- Microsoft Word the de facto standard for authoring (collaboration with SME's) - can also author DITA XML.
- Microsoft SharePoint the world largest CMS - 100 million licenses deployed on a global basis
For the technical folks: DITA Exchange is a site collection and can - as such - be installed on a running SharePoint Server.

Subject: Sharepoint as an LMS
Hi folks...
Is anyone out there using Sharepoint as an LMS, and as a CMS?
I've recently discovered www.sharepointlms.com, which is a non-Microsoft LMS add-on for Sharepoint. Looks interesting, but I'm wondering if you can use Sharepoint easily as an LMS on its own.
Any ideas out there?
Cheers,
Kevin
