I mostly use frames for graphics as a style (Sidehead, etc.) -- that's
the placement automation I was referring to.

I've been using WMFs because I heard that Word converted all vector
graphics to WMF. I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that other vector graphic
formats would lose something in the conversion.
