Fiona, I agree completely. Well said!

Not only that, but I have asked the question on numerous interviews and
gotten the job over other very well-qualified candidates.

Maybe it is all in how you ask? If there is a formal "project," it is not
out of line to the project managers what their estimating base and schedule
is for coding, testing, and documenting the project. I am trained as a
project manager, and most companies understand that is a logical question to
ask.
