I will admit, though, that I've never been given less than two weeks
notice by an agency or company when a contract was
terminated....except for the one employee gig I had about two years
ago where I was led me out the door. Always expect the worst when
your boss asks to see you and someone from HR is already in his
office.

Someone earlier in this thread said that this topic is actually two
threads. One addresses the question raised by the anonymous poster and
another that addresses the question of ethics and how it applies to both the
contractor and the contractee. In every case where I either left a
permanent position, or a contract position, I have given at least three
weeks notice and offered to be available for questions for a period after my
replacement is hired (often up to six months).
