As far as I'm concerned, this is too-little, too-late on Adobe's part.
And frankly, I'm not buying it (literally or figuratively).
This has been a frequent topic here (and pretty much everywhere in the
industry) for months...the majority of folks who brought us RH are now
at Madcap Software (www.madcapsoftware.com), developing Flare. Flare is
kind of the "next gen" of RH - XML based (vs. HTML for RH). Mike
Hamilton recently did a very complete presentation on the whole
RH-Macromedia-Adobe story and demo-ed the new Flare s/w at our local STC
chapter meeting. Flare is awesome, especially considering it's a 1.0
ver. Now, there will likely be a whole host of folks posting here who
will complain about all the things Flare DOESN'T do, or does differently
than RH. If you're using RH, and have no need to update anything at
this time, fine. However, if you're looking to update or for a new
tool, check out Flare.
Let me just say that the one overriding aspect of Flare that I found
most exciting was that it's s/w developed for the people who will be
USING it, not by "s/w developers" and THEIR concepts of how an app
should be used.
You may want to contact Mike Hamilton (who is usually lurking on this
list, anyway) for the "real" story about Adobe and RH.

Hi David,
I'm attending the Winwriters conference in Palm Springs, CA next month.
Adobe is making a presentation indicating that RoboHelp is still alive
and
has a future. Here's the announcement:

Subject: [Query] The Future of Macromedia/Adobe RoboHelp
Hello, everyone.
In a recent message to the list, an allusion was made about
the uncertain future of RoboHelp after Adobe's acquisition
of Macromedia (which, of course, got RoboHelp via its
acquisition of eHelp).
Is the possible demise of RoboHelp a rumor, or has Adobe
made some sort of statement about RoboHelp?
Thank you very much, in advance, for your time and help!
