This sounds promising -- the distiller .log starts:
%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Warning: AGaramond cannot be embedded due to licensing restrictions.]%%
%%[Page: 1]%%
...
%%[LastPage]%%

Any ideas how to fix it?

Check the Acrobat version on the two machines. There was a problem with
interpretation of the licensing flag on one version that was quickly
fixed on the first patch release. IIRC it was between Acrobat 5 and
Acrobat 5.1 (also called 5.0.5, depending on where you look). So check
that both machines have the same version. If they do, then the solution
is to use an embeddable font. The TrueType Garamond that ships with MS
Office is embeddable.

Also, if AGaramond is installed on one machine but not on the other,
you'll see the PDF with AGaramond on one machine and with the default
substitute serif font on the other machine. If you're not actually
examining the details of letterforms, you might not immediately notice
the difference between the two fonts, and that could be the display
difference you're seeing.
