I just came here to ask about a good guide
to DocBook, having been disappointed by
the site. I tried the Definitive Guide, but it has
major problems.

Chapter 1, Getting Started with XML, is nothing
to do with XML at all; it's a very VERY brief
overview of the history of DocBook.

Chapter 2 gets straight into editing XML. Fair enough,
but at this stage I have no idea of the overall process,
beginning to end, of producing usable documentation
from those XML files - this is something I want to know
about before I start spending time and effort converting
my .doc files into XML.

Chapter 3, Parsing DocBook Documents, is empty.

Chapter 4 talks about publishing, but only mentions
stylesheets. There's nothing practical here about how
I actually do it.

Is there any material out there that matches what I'm
looking for?

Cheers,
