Before you go to text import, try these things.

1. Mif2Go (still the best for translation of formats)

2. Save the Word files as RTF. Import the RTF using the Japanese RTF
import filter built into FrameMaker.

The last option will not do anything about the graphics that may be
embedded. If you don't have the orginal graphics, then also save the Word
files as HTML, which will save the graphics for you.
