Yes, indeed ... technical writing jobs are going to continue to be outsourced overseas. Writers that fail to educate themselves now and build new, marketable skill sets that differentiate them from "commodity writers" will be at risk of unemployment in the near future.

Why do you think there are so many technical communicators transforming themselves into content managers, information architects, DTD developers, style sheet designers, etc. Not only do adding these skill sets to your arsenal make you more marketable, they also allow you to command higher salaries.
