Lone_Consultant Writer wondered: <<O/S - Windows XP, Frame 7... Does
anyone out there know the keyboard short cut (key strokes) for the
micro symbol in Frame 7?>>
Keyboard shortcuts are the same for all programs running under a given
operating system unless the programmers unwisely hijacked this very
important compatibility function. Check out the Character Map utility
that ships with all versions of Windows, and you'll be able to browse
(by font) all the regular and special characters. That utility also
lists the system-wide keyboard shortcuts for these characters: select
the character and the shortcut appears at the bottom of the program
window.
I'm not running Windows, but my ANSI cheat sheet tells me that to get
mu (micro), you switch to the Symbol font and type Alt-0109 (hold down
the Alt key and type these numbers on the numeric keypad). If that
works, let techwr-l know so that others can benefit from your question.
If not, please provide the correct shortcut (ditto).
On the Mac, simply type Option-m and you'll get the mu in most fonts
except Symbol, where you need only type lower-case m. (This may also
work in Windows. Again, haven't tried this.) Apple also has the
Character Palette utility (OS X) or Keycaps (older operating systems)
that do the same as the Windows character map.
