If the amount of time and/or money seems not to justify a commitment,
you can actually have some fun with numbers. I was once approached
by a company I knew had a reputation for frustrating the hell out of
contractors with their "one day this week, two days next week" method
of using contractors, so I quoted them a sliding scale of rates based on
the number of hours per week. At under 16 hours in a week I was
quoting $200/hr, down to about $60/hr for a 40-hr week. Of course
they passed on that one. :)
