I appreciate the distinction between leaders and managers in that context;
it's a popular view among team-builders that a "good leader" is a "good
coach".
Regardless, the definition of "leader" as applied so far in this
discussion, is:

2 : a person who leads : as a : GUIDE, CONDUCTOR b (1) : a person who
directs a military force or unit (2) : a person who has commanding
authority or influence c (1) : the principal officer of a British
political party (2) : a party member chosen to manage party
activities in a legislative body (3) : such a party member presiding
over the whole legislative body when the party constitutes a majority
d (1) : CONDUCTOR c (2) : a first or principal performer of a group

Although I'd be wary of putting much stock into a sharp-toothed definition
of "manager" expressed in a magazine editorial (or any other editorial),
that viewpoint does appear to support the statement "other leaders select
leaders" using the above definition.

Aside from that, the bit you quoted as mine actually was something I quoted
from Andrew and responded to. Not sure if it was your intention to quote
the quote, or to quote my reply.
