One thing to pay attention to is how you start the business relationship.
Some companies will obviously use your services, and then find a reason to
not pay you, or pay you less than the estimate. It's an old trick, and very
difficult for you to collect, being completely dependant on the client's
good graces now.
Part of the proposal time is billable, but you should cover that in your
hourly rate. It is probably too late to change your hourly rate, but next
time keep this in mind.
The requirement to complete the work for one subdomain is a bad sign,
because with your submission the client has more than half of the work, in
my opinion. Even though you are in business, you must pay bills, and should
not work for free.
Submit the bill and document each step of your relationship with the
business, as it may be of use to you.
