I doc'd the procedure once, a long time ago.
As have several of us. :) Here's my entry from August 2000, in which I showed the specific field codes to create the desired effect:
For the first item in a NUMBERED list:
{ SEQ numlist \# "0" \r 1 \* MERGEFORMAT }
For the other items in a NUMBERED list:
{ SEQ numlist \# "0" \n \* MERGEFORMAT }
For the first item in a LETTERED list:
{ SEQ ltrlist \* alphabetic \r 1 \* MERGEFORMAT }
For the other items in a LETTERED list:
{ SEQ ltrlist \* alphabetic \n \* MERGEFORMAT }
Of course, you don't have to name them "numlist" and "ltrlist."
But if you always use the same names, you'll never get errors with
overlapping lists.
