RE: Why should a tech writer learn XML?

The reason for asking about XML, once again, is that there is an STC
chapter-sponsored seminar coming up. One of my colleagues, who works for a
different contracting company, was having problems coming up with reasons
for her to atend this tech writer-oriented XML seminar. Her boss talked to
me (rather officiously and technocratically, I might add), asking what use
the seminar would be for her.

That's why I asked for your comments. Sorry if I was too obtuse, unclear,
befuddled, inappropriate, insufficient, inaccurate, indelicate, or
whatever you think of me.

I was looking for elevator-pitch comments that would HELP. Unfortunately,
so many of the posters aren't helpful here--instead, they want to blather
on about how great they are and how stupid we are.
