Am I alone in this? Do you find it getting more and more difficult to submit your resume? I mean if they're going to have a "preferred method" shouldn't someone try it out? UGH!

No, you are not alone.

A few years ago, I listed my resume with an on-line service (similar to monster.com). They allowed only a plain text resume, or the use of some HTML tags. I spent 2 - 3 hours getting my resume to look "perfect" on the screen. They allowed you to submit your resume through their site to any company, so I emailed the resume to my son to see how it would look. When emailed, the resume was sent as plain text with the HTML tags showing. I was not impressed.
