Good points.

My employer (hi guys!) monitors internet and computer
activity. They spot check PCs for unauthorized stuff
and send e-mails around reminding everyone of our
software policy. I do have personal software on my PC;
I bought it, paid for it, use it for work, and was
sure to get approval from MIS.

For example, recently some of our folks were using an
out-of-country music database--Napster kind of
thing--our network guys shut that down pronto and
warnings were issued. In fact, music and video formats
are blocked here--regardless of whether you own them
or not, as are some URLs.

Given all of this, if I cross any line, I fully expect
to be notified. I know it is the same at some other
companies around here (Connecticut).

Cheers,

Sean
