I don't think so. I think tools *can* be valuable, but the demand comes
and goes. Certification in technology shows you are technically capable,
not just good with a word processor or HAT. Technologies can come and
go, but a tech writer who is certified in technology carries more than
that certification... A proven ability to get technical.

And yes, I am very proficient with tools like FM, WWP, and in HTML and
other online formats, and I'm well-versed in pre-press workflow... Those
are skills I need to produce deliverables. Tech skills help me set up
the source files accurately and quickly so I *can* then produce them.
