::: Could you please give me some real-world, tried and true
::: experiences and opinions about the software.

Just two of several true-life scenarios:

>From the past:
~11 writers producing ~17,000 pages of technical content in ~3 years'
time, single-sourced to print (custom size spiral bound paperback), PDF
(US Letter print size), HTML, and online Help (with help from WWP). Some
info was shared across multiple books, some info was unique for specific
books, some info went into print only, some into PDF only, and some into
HTML/Help only. A solid, template-driven workflow cut publishing time
for all of this down to about 2 weeks.

>From the present:
10 writers documenting over 250 products on varying release schedules,
producing print (perfect bound paperback), PDF (US Letter and A4 print
page sizes), and online Help (HLP and CHM) as needed, with content
existing as explained in the above example. Oh, and we single-source the
translated source files to all the above as well (everything from the
"romance languages" to Japanese and Simplified Chinese).
